Exciting drivers and potential drivers of the new 2013 Honda Fit EV, the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), has finally given the new model a fuel economy rating. However, because the new Fit runs on electricity, they will be given a special rating from the EPA tailored to electric vehicles.

The new rating system used by the employs a system which assigns a miles per gallon equivalent (MPGe) rating and a total electric driving range for electric vehicles. So how did the Honda EV perform? The new Honda Fit EV achieved a 118 MPGe with an electric driving range of 82 miles, beating out the Ford Focus Electric by 13 MPGe and six more miles in electric driving range.

Not only did the Honda Fit outperform against Ford's electric Focus but it also beat out the Nissan LEAF! The 2013 was in fact, the single highest-rated model on the EPA's new testing standard for electric vehicles outpacing the LEAF by 19 MPGe and 9 miles on its driving range.
