If you frequent the Mungenast St. Louis Honda blog, you've likely happened across a post focused on Honda's benefactor spirit. We don't know about you, but we're saps when it comes to corporate niceties, especially when their done routinely and for the sake of giving rather than making the company look good.
A more recent example of this is Honda serving as the sponsor of a program spearheaded by the Urban Initiative: Little League Baseball and Softball. Honda isn't just the program's current sponsor. Rather 2012 represents the 15 year in a row, they've stepped up to the proverbial plate, underscoring the their commitment to never letting people down.
Since first, joining forces with the Urban Initiative, Honda has contributed approximately $800,000 to Little League Baseball and Softball and hosted giveaways to raise awareness of the organization. Of course the $5,000 awards were to be given to a qualifying little league team of the winner's choice rather than deposited into their bank account or used to fund an exotic getaway.
Even with displaying such huge proportions of generosity, Honda remains humble about their efforts, paying homage only to the young players. "It's [really] about sweat, sportsmanship, and teamwork," the Japanese automaker says. "But at the end of the ball game, it's really about good play and more fun, all while participating in a game kids truly cherish. Hats off to the really stars...the players."1
