Mungenast St. Louis Honda begins Drive for the Troops Campaign

This holiday season, thousands of  U.S. Armed Forces will be coming home during the annual Holiday Mass Exodus. Our military personnel and their families face unique challenges, including frequent transfers, long deployments that cause separation from friends and family, rigorous training and obvious danger.
The USO of Missouri offers food, shelter, and travel assistance to thousands of troops making their way home this holiday season to St. Louis. During this time of year, the USO of Missouri needs your help more than ever to make the homecoming for these soldiers a little easier.
Please support the Mungenast St. Louis Honda Drive for the Troops Campaign by donating nonperishable food items or new personal care items between November 15 and December 31, 2011. All of the items you donate at St. Louis Honda will be delivered to the USO of Missouri's office at Lambert Airport to benefit St. Louis area soldiers.
We most sincerely appreciate your generosity at this busy time of year. For more information, please contact Shan Herwig at (314) 306-7266 or ShanHerwig@Mungenast.com

Christmas in July Food Drive.

Each July, when pine trees sprout on showroom floors and holiday decorations line the walls of Mungenast dealerships, the automotive family gives back to the community by feeding the hungry.
For the last four years, the automotive family has held "Christmas in July," an event where Mungenast employees donate canned food to the St. Louis Area Foodbank. Staff members also raise money for the organization through yearly and monthly payroll deductions.
In 2011, the Mungenast Automotive Family collected over 400 pounds of food donations and hopes to make next year's contribution even bigger.
Since its origin of 1965, when Dave Sr. opened his first dealership in south St. Louis City, the Mungenast Automotive Family has become a local philanthropist.  Dave, Sr. and his wife, Barbara, even started the Dave & Barbara Mungenast Foundation in 1996 to provide assistance to local charities, including the St. Louis Area Foodbank.
By holding events like "Christmas in July," the Mungenast Automotive Family ensures that Dave and Barbara's wish to help others comes true.

Best Place to work in St Louis, 2 Years Running - Better Business Journal

It was always a goal of Dave Mungenast, Sr., who passed away in 2006, to be recognized as one of the best places to work not only in the automobile industry but in all industries.
Communication is the key. You have to hear everybody's side of it and then make a decision.
Mungenast St. Louis Honda has weekly manager meetings. We also have a monthly employee council meeting where a representative from each department within the store meets actually with my assistant, and we collect input. We take all of their suggestions and use them as ways to improve the store. The good decisions are not always made in the ivory tower.
We have a once-a-month employee appreciation luncheon.     We have lunches for all the employees on Saturday, which is our busiest day of the week. There's a yearly incentive trip that people can qualify for. There's also a family picnic we'll have at a park somewhere and bring in rides and everything.
Initially you would think that (perks) would negatively affect the bottom line, but we really believe by keeping the people's morale higher, it actually improves the bottom line.
    Employee Perks
  • The dealership offers employees bonuses, including cash and an annual incentive trip for achievement of mutual goals.
  • Employees have low-cost medical and dental insurance and a 401(k) plan with a 50 percent company match.

Employee Luncheon with the Mehlville Fire Department

At our January employee luncheon the Mehlville Fire Department was kind enough to speak about safety in the workplace and how to keep our staff and our guests safe in the event of an "incident" such as the most recent tornado. They pointed out the safe place in each of our three buildings and suggested where we should place our safety signs.
Mungenast St. Louis Honda had a collection for the USO and each employee had the opportunity of putting their name in a drawing for a free detail to be completed by our fearless leaders (Owner - Dave Mungenast, Jr., General Manager - Ron Ribolzi and our General Sales Manager Jaime Burkard).
